Centenary Farm Livery

About Us

Centenary Farm is a 107-acre organic farm on the edge of the Cotswolds, where we (Jacquie and Keith Walby) have lived and farmed for over 30 years - 25 of those we have farmed organically.

We have always kept horses and between us have over 100 years’ (!) experience of all aspects of equine sport and management, from small native ponies to high performance thoroughbreds and sport horses.

Our 107 acres is established grassland, managed organically in accordance with our Soil Association Accreditation, which means that no artificial fertilisers or chemicals have been used on the land for decades. Our high-grade pasture is based on good leys (seeds) that include herbs, and is maintained through regular topping and rotational grazing by sheep.

We provide DIY livery; Managed grass livery (retirement/convalescent/holiday/); Enhanced care (rehabilitation).

We believe it’s important that any horse who comes to stay with us enjoys peace and tranquility, and we aim to provide affordable packages to suit you and your horse during their retirement and other periods when you may need help. Most importantly, we want to offer you the peace of mind that your beloved equine friend will be cared for to the highest standard, as if they were our very own. For that reason we are currently limiting the number of horses we accept on managed livery to 12-15, and we do not have any plans to increase this number.

We can accommodate most needs and we offer a loving, caring home for equines of all ages and sizes, giving them the treatment and care they deserve in their retirement years or during periods of rest/rehabilitation. We have a great deal of experience in rehabilitation and have worked with a trusted team of experts for many years, returning many horses to work through targeted and appropriate exercise and interventions.

Our equine guests are kept within small herds in organic grass fields with housing in barns with deep straw beds in the winter and occasionally when extra shade is needed in the warmer summer months. They are checked at least twice daily and their rugs are changed whenever necessary. Veterinary issues are dealt with immediately and we monitor and record each horse’s condition to ensure optimal health is maintained all year round. Top quality hay and haylage is grown on our farm and this is provided ad lib through the winter. We take great pride in the care and wellbeing of all our equine guests and are very proud that for over thirty years the horses at Centenary Farm (our own and paying guests) have thrived in a peaceful, stress-free and clean environment on our organic farm.
